A year ago, I released my first book A THREAD IN THE TANGLE. I’ve learned a lot about publishing this past year, but despite releasing my second book FROM THE ASHES in May, I’m still learning! And I’ve made a few mistakes with KING’S FOLLY (nothing too serious).
Lesson 1: Never, ever release a teaser chapter before my editor has read the whole manuscript (luckily the title survived the editing process). So with that lesson learnt… for those of you who read the teaser chapters on my website awhile ago, you may notice that the beginning has been changed a bit.
Lesson 2: Take the release date estimate for my next book and add like four to six months onto it. I know many of you have been waiting for King’s Folly (very patiently) and I do apologize! First I said August, then I said October… the manuscript is currently in its very final edit. It’s SO close that I’m getting impatient to publish the book. So just hang on a little while longer. Promise.
Lesson 3: Never commission cover art before the first draft is finished. You might all remember my cover artwork of the dark forest? Well guess what? I decided that it didn’t work for the finished product, so I commissioned something that I thought reflected the mood and story better. Hope you like the new cover!
